EMERAUDE CRUISE - 2 DAYS & 1 NIGHT

 

Emeraude Cruises launched the Emeraude on December 16, 2003, the first ever luxury cruise ship designed as a direct inspiration from the past in Vietnam. Holiday-makers on Emeraude will cruise around scenic, memorable and beautiful Halong Bay.  French owner, Eric Merlin, accidentally discovered the existence of a magnificent fleet of four single-wheeled paddle steamers-Emeraude, Perle, Saphir and Rubis, operating in Halong and other parts of Vietnam from 1906 to 1945 from a black and white postcard he bought in France!
 

DAY 01: HANOI - HALONG BAY ( L, D)

12.00 - 13.00: Upon arrival at the port, a warm welcome by Emeraude staff and then board the shuttle boat for a short transfer (approximately 5 minutes) to the Emeraude. Welcome cocktail and check in on board the Emeraude.

13.00 - 18.30 The Emeraude cruises through Halong Bay passing by some of the most scenic locations including Yen Ngua, Con Coc Mountains and a floating village. A Vietnamese cuisine demonstrantion at the sun deck 13.00 and 14.30

Buffet lunch in restaurant.

There is an optional guided visit to Sungsot Grotto (Grotto of Surprises), weather and tide permitting. Option of afternoon tea with pastries on the sundeck or in the restaurant and an aperitif before dinner.

18.30: Arrive at Hang Luon lake for overnight on board.

19.00 - 21.00: International buffet dinner is served in the restaurant

Movie on the sundeck or in the restaurant. Accommodation and overnight on board the Emeraude at Hang Luon lake, Halong Bay. 


DAY 2: HALONG BAY - HA NOI ( B)

06.00: Tai Chi Class.

 

07.00: The Emeraude sets sail once again through the breathtaking scenery of Halong Bay heading for Halong Public Port.

 

07.00 – 09.00: European buffet breakfast is served in the Emeraude restaurant.

 

08.30 - 09.45: Check out of cabin.

09.45 - 10.00: Transfer by shuttle boat back to Halong Public Port. End of Services

In 1910 a paddle steamer called the Emeraude was offering unforgettable cruises in Halong Bay for visitors to what was then French Indochina. The Emeraude was part of a flotilla owned by the Roque family who had left Bordeaux in 1858 in search of adventure and fortune. After several ups and downs including successful trading and timber businesses, near bankruptcy and being taken hostage by pirates, the Roque brothers built Emeraude, Perle, Saphir, Rubis and Onyx to ferry passengers and freight along the waterways of Indochina and cruise on magnificent Halong Bay.

Emeraude Cruise - THE EMERAUDE SUITE



 

At 19.5 square metres, the luxurious Emeraude Suite is roomy enough for a queen-sized bed, as well as a large sofa and space to entertain, which makes it a favourite with families.

Its cream and green colour scheme adds warmth and nostalgia to the wooden fixtures and flooring.  A sundeck location on the starboard side and ample windows deliver wide views across the bay.

Outside, an adjacent sitting area is the perfect place to enjoy a drink or relax and marvel at the passing scenery. 


THE PAUL ROQUE SUITE



 

Named after the original Emeraudes first owner, this was the vessels suite.

At nearly 16-square metres, it is the smallest of the three but has a trump card.  The popularity of the Paul Roque Suite remains unrivalled due to a private deck. The deck features both sun loungers and chairs for uninterrupted relaxation.

Its situation on the bows upper deck adds to a feeling of unhurried, truly tranquil travel.

Inside, comfortable chairs, a rug and checked wall coverings add to the "golden age" feel.

Wide windows ensure fabulous views.


34 DELUXE AND SUPERIOR LUXURY CABINS



 

Emeraudes twin and double rooms each feature innerspring mattresses to ensure a comfortable nights sleep.

Each room is equipped with all the necessary amenities, from air conditioning to hot showers.

Ultimately, the greatest attraction remains outside your cabin door. Each room opens directly onto the deck.

Superior rooms are located on lower deck with deluxe rooms on the upper deck. 


ON BOARD ACTIVITIES


 

From the sun deck, passengers can enjoy a soothing foot massage while sipping a refreshing cocktail and gazing at the rock formations reflected in the crystal clear water of the bay.

The Emeraude’s huge paddle wheel opens to reveal a swimming deck offering passengers the opportunity to swim in the calm waters of the bay surrounded by the majestic scenery. At dawn, that most magical time as the sun rises, the soft and graceful movements of a Tai chi class on the deck complement the atmospheric silence of the bay.
